When Matt’s grandfather returned to civilian life after serving as a cook in the US Army, he started the Century House Restaurant in Torrington, Connecticut.
Matt’s father worked in the Century House Restaurant during his childhood. The name Century House Partners is a nod to the entrepreneurial spirit of Matt and his family.
It’s also a nod to a core belief: that growing a business is a multi-generational journey, and many years of hard work and sacrifice are necessary before success can be ultimately achieved.
Matt Ostrowski was born and raised in the rural outskirts of Durham, North Carolina, where he grew up helping his parents transform the woods surrounding their home into 15 acres of pastures, a pond, and a modest barn. Among other things, this upbringing instilled in Matt the value of hard work, perseverance, and the power that small changes can have over the long term. It also taught him how to roll up his sleeves and get the job done, regardless of how daunting the task at hand may seem at first.
Matt spent several years advising and partnering with small, family- and entrepreneur-owned businesses. He admires the impact that small businesses can have on their customers, employees, and communities.
He currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Carolina. He enjoys spending his time outdoors, hiking, running, playing golf, cheering for Duke basketball, and continually hoping that the Carolina Panthers have a winning season ahead.
